Top 5 Chevy Picks for Summer Driving Roadtrip

Summer is upon us here in Utah, and recently we were asked what we think are the best 2013 Chevy's to take on an upcoming roadtrip.  Utah is home to some of the most beautiful landscape you will find anywhere.

Here is our list of the Top 2013 Chevy Models for your roadtrip this summer.

2013 Chevrolet Volt
5. Volt:
Why the Volt you ask?  It’s simple.  Who wouldn’t want to buzz around town or take a road trip without the “buzz” of engine noise?   The Volt is a quiet, comfortable and absolutely enjoyable car to drive.  This hybrid stands out among all hybrid/electric vehicles on the road today!

4. Suburban/Tahoe:
Okay, so I know you’re going to comment that there can’t be two different SUV’s, but this isn’t necessarily a race for the #1 spot, instead consider the Tahoe a smaller version of the Suburban.
2013 Chevrolet Tahoe

So, here’s why the Suburban or Tahoe make a great summer driving vehicle—ROOM!
Pack the stuff, buckle the kids in, turn on the DVD player and go!

3. Spark:
How can you not have fun in this car?  Rated top interior in its class by MotorWeek the Spark has amazing room, comfort and just a flat-out fun (expressive) interior.  So, whether you’re heading to your local Park or across the Country to a National Park the Spark makes my list and it should yours.

2. Camaro:
A modern day icon, who wouldn’t want to be driving a Camaro during the summer?  Take your pick of a hardtop with the A/C on or a convertible with the top down and fresh air blowing past you you’ll enjoy every second in this car.

1. Corvette:
Need I say more?!  Nope.  But I will!  Often referred to as America's only true sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette is one of the world's best known and longest-running nameplates. From its rather humble six-cylinder beginnings in 1953 to the 638-horsepower ZR1, the Corvette has transformed a lot over time, but it has always maintained the key aspects of style and performance that make a Vette a Vette.  Summer, sunshine and behind the steering wheel of a Corvette, what more can you ask for!?

There you have it! Riverton Chevrolet's list of the Top 5 2013 Chevy Models to take on a roadtrip this summer.  Please comment and let us know what you are taking on your next Utah roadtrip.

New 2014 Chevy Camaro - Z28 Preview from Riverton Chevy

THE ALL NEW 2014 RESTYLED CAMARO HAS ARRIVED!

We are excited to announce the Chevyrolet's return of the Iconic Z/28 Camaro Model to Riverton Chevrolet.  While we're not sure when this beauty will show up on our new car Chevy showroom here in beautiful Sandy, UT we want to give you a little sneak peak of what you can look forward to.

The new 2014 model Camaro takes things to the next level in the key areas that have always made it unique – design and performance. Functionality and technology have also been enhanced to help this icon remain a sales leader in its segment.

The 2014 Camaro represents the most significant design changes since the introduction of the fifth-generation Camaro as a concept car in 2006.

Chevrolet has announced that it’s bringing back the Z/28, a historic nameplate that harkens back to its first generation roots with a road-course focus and equipment engineered for competitive driving.

The restyled 2014 Camaro takes things to the next level in the key areas that have always made it a leader in its segment - design and performance. It arrives in dealerships later this summer.

While we're still waiting to see a complete list of the new Camaro specifications we do have this to show you directly from Chevrolet.

What's New?:

Exterior:

  • Front and rear fascias, headlamps and taillamps, decklid, spoiled, rear diffusers and exhaust tips.
  • Unique SS hood
  • Daytime Running Lamps with low beam headlamps
  • Available restyle RS Exterior Appearance Package

  • Available Red Rock Metallic exterior color

Interior:

What's Different in the New 2014 Camaro?:
  • Rear spoiler no longer standard on ALL models:
  •    Standard on SS Coupe models
  •    Included with RS Exterior Appearance Package on LT Coupe models
  •    Standard on all Convertible models with integral antenna

  • Victor Red, Rally Yellow and Inferno Orange Metallic exterior color discontinued for 2014
  • Quarter flares (LPO VRV) and Argent Ground
  • Effects Package (LPO VTD) discontinued for 2014
  • 18-inch painted aluminum wheels (LPO SGE) now standard on LS models and 18-inch steel wheels no longer available for 2014

  • Metallic exterior discontinued for 2014
  • Mojave Interior Accent Trim Package discontinued for 2014
  • Hockey Stripe Packages and Hood and Hockey
  • Stripe Packages discontinued for 2014

Compared to the previous model, the front fascia features a narrower upper opening and wider lower opening for improved cooling efficiency as well as reduced aerodynamic lift. The narrower upper grille also updates the appearance of the iconic “Halo Ring” high-intensity discharge headlamps on the Camaro RS package, which are now slightly hooded at the top and bottom.  The Camaro SS models now feature a functional hood vent which diverts some of the airflow entering the engine bay up and over the vehicle reducing lift.

The change in proportion is mirrored at the rear of the 2014 Camaro, which features a taller rear diffuser and new, narrower LED taillamps. The taillamps feature a contemporary, streamlined take on the Camaro’s signature dual-element taillights.

The restyled 2014 Camaro LS, LT, SS and ZL1 models are scheduled to start production in the third quarter and arrive to Riverton Chevrolet - Salt Lake City Chevy Dealer by late summer.  The all-new 2014 Camaro Z/28 will join the other models in the spring of 2014.

The 2014 Camaro Z/28 is designed to be the most track-capable Camaro production model produced by Chevrolet.  The Z/28 will be powered by the naturally aspirated LS7 small-block V8 engine and Tremec TR6060 six speed manual transmission.  In initial testing, the Z/28 is three seconds faster than the ZL1.  The increase speed comes not only from the engine but also from:

  • Increased grip: The Z/28 is capable of 1.05 g in cornering acceleration, due to comprehensive chassis revisions
  • Increased stopping power: the Z/28 features Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes capable of 1.5 g in deceleration
  • Reduced curb weight: The naturally aspirated Z/28 weighs 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1, with changes ranging from lightweight wheels to thinner rear-window glass

The first Camaro Z/28 was introduced in 1967 to compete in the Sports Car Club of America racing; it featured a smaller, lighter, engine, heavy-duty suspension, and was not available with an automatic transmission or air conditioning.

The goal of this fifth generation Camaro Z/28 is to return to its road-racing roots.  Like the first generation Camaro Z/28, the 2014 Camaro Z28 will not be offered with an automatic transmission, and air conditioning will be an option.

The Camaro Z/28 will be equipped with Recaro™ Performance Seats.  Recaro™ Performance seats will also be an available option at the start of the 2014 production run for the Camaro SS and ZL1 coupe models.

The restyled 2014 Camaro joins the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray and the Chevrolet SS to form one of the most impressive performance car lineups offered by any manufacturer, and will allow your customers to continue to find new roads.

The Camaro Z/28 features the very best, race-proven technology on the market, including carbon brakes, spool-valve dampers, and the hand-built LS7 V8 engine.   As such, the Z/28 will be positioned above the ZL1.  Specific information on the Camaro Z/28 pricing will be available at Riverton Chevrolet later this year.  Give us a call at (801) 576-4675 for more information on pricing your new 2014 Camaro in Utah.

Chevrolet Next-Gen MyLink Wins CNET Best-of-CES Award!

In My Humble Opinion………
Did I get your attention?   I hope so!

Now onto great news!!

Chevrolet Next-Gen MyLink Wins CNET Best-of-CES Award!

Citing its easy-to-use, smartphone-inspired interface, tech news provider CNET chose Chevrolet’s next-generation MyLink infotainment system as its 2013 Best-of-CES Award in the Car Tech category, beating in-vehicle app frameworks from Ford and Garmin.

“Cabin tech interfaces receive a lot of criticism for being clunky, ugly and slow, but Chevrolet may have cracked the code by copying the smartphone,” wrote CNET Senior Editor Wayne Cunningham. “The newest generation of the MyLink infotainment system runs smoothly and employs icons that look, and can be rearranged, like those on a smartphone.”

So, in summary MyLink rules!  In this day-and-age of complicated, high-tech gadgets (especially in vehicles) it’s nice to see Chevrolet once again is way ahead of the competition.  And, the fun part is MyLink is available on every model* Chevrolet offers!

Here’s some additional information as well as features and benefits MyLink offers.  Enjoy!

In addition to icons covering everything from navigation to phone to music apps such as Pandora, Chevrolet’s next-gen MyLink is designed to accommodate new features and enhancements and be highly customizable. It also represents Chevrolet’s first use of natural language voice recognition that allows customers to safely place calls, enter destinations, browse media, play music and control other functions simply by telling the vehicle what to do.

Another first for Chevrolet is that the system can store up to 60 favorites, including radio stations (AM/FM/XM), contacts, destinations, music and other media. This feature is convenient for those who travel to the same destination regularly and want to save locations such as hotels and restaurants.

MyLink offers more but hopefully you got the point.  As Chevrolet continues “leading the pack” in state-of-the-art technology, design and safety you’re guaranteed a winning combination!
